Between July and October, Hervey Bay Dive Centre offers the region's exclusive whale swim experience. A dedicated PADI Dive Team ensures an unforgettable adventure. Encounter the majestic Humpback whales in a limited group for a personal and enjoyable day on the water. Each interaction is unique and described by many as "life-changing."

From mid-July to late October, the tour maximizes opportunities to swim with the whales using a 20m mermaid line attached to the vessel. We prioritize the whales' comfort, snorkeling to avoid disturbing them. The experience is subject to conditions, and we engage with the whales on their terms. All equipment is provided, including wetsuit, mask, snorkel, and safety gear. If swimming isn't possible, our tour offers an intimate whale watch in the world-renowned Hervey Bay.

The tour departs from the floating Dive Centre office at the Boat Club Marina. The purpose built vessels, M.V. Utopia and M.V. Arcadia, are operated by experienced local skippers and friendly dive crews. Small groups ensures a memorable encounter. The swim and whale watch season spans mid-July to late October. The focus is on maximizing immersive experiences with the whales, especially when mothers and calves arrive from mid-September onward. While swimming with calves is not permitted, we're committed to finding suitable opportunities. We guarantee whale sightings from the vessel between July 20th and October 31st. In the rare event of no sightings, we offer a full refund or a free return ticket. However, swimming with the whales is subject to weather, sea conditions, and whale behavior.

Children under 8 cannot swim with the whales and must be accompanied by a guardian on the vessel. If two guardians are present, they can switch between the vessel and swimming when conditions allow. The tour is not suitable for children under 4. The vessel, M.V. Arcadia, is a 12-meter power-cat (catamaran) with a capacity for 30 guests and 3 crew members. It features a cabin, full-size toilet, water-level viewing decks, and a speed of 20 knots. Please note that wheelchair/pram is not accessible.
